Houston, we have Knitting!

I got my last box from my Secret Pal, and it's just... lovely. 2 skeins of alpaca (yay, alpaca!) yarn, and for my birthday (which is next wednesday), a skein of Trekking. The cute notepad has a hand-stitched sheep on it, and there's a FiberTrends lace pattern, too! Thank you, Karen! :D

And yes, as the title says, there has been knitting. The rumpled mess you see is the beginning of the Spartan Sweater from the Fall 06 Interweave Knits. It's the garter edging (which rolled up on itself) and all but one row of the fair isle 'belly band'. When I've got more time (and more sweater) I'll turn it inside out so you can see the floats. They're beautiful in their own right. :D

I'm so glad that you enjoyed your gifts. Did you find the little sock tucked into the ball band of the Trekking? It could hold stitch markers, spare change, "stash" money...

I loved the sheep too. I'm almost tempted to go buy the pattern again for myself.

I'm envious of that Trekking! So pretty. I totally agree with you on the husband sweaters; mine doesn't appreciate knitting enough to get to have one. That sweater that you're working on looks beautiful.

oh, i'm blessed with a husband who appreciates when I make him things, because he makes me things, too.

for the first birthday we were together, he made me a pencil box (handmade!) out of baltic birch plywood and this really cool plexiglass. It's lined with sticky-back felt, and one of my treasured possessions. :)

He likes to watch me knit, which is cool. :)

My husband likes to watch me knit too. I've told him that it's funner to do than to watch, but he says he's happy with his computers, so I just let him be. He was the recipient of the first pair of socks that I ever knit. I made them for his ski boots because his boots kept taking skin off the back of his calves where his socks didn't come up high enough. :)

Happy Birthday! Obviously all the cool people were born in September---just kidding, you'd be cool no matter what your birthday is. Have a great one!
